How to get the best possible service

Many company’s today are using this exact phase. But is this truly possible? The answer in most cases is yes. Lets find out how.

The first and most important requirement of course is finding a top quality honest repair shop ( see “The quest for Ms. Good Wrench” finding a quality repair shop )

The second most important item is communication between you and the repair shop. If the repair shop doesn’t have good concise information about the problem and how to duplicate it, they may never find the problem. To aid your technician in repairing your vehicle correctly tell them as much information as you can about all problems. ( Example: engine starts hard when cold after setting overnight. Runs fine warm and starts ok for the rest of the day. Starts better with a full tank of gas.)  Repairing your vehicle is just like solving a good mystery. All the clues are important and aid in solving the problem faster.

Tell your shop everything they need to know to fix your car properly. Some customers believe that if they leave out little details that it will cost them less, But yet the exact opposite is true. Time is money and the longer it takes the more you pay. ( Example: A customer brings in a vehicle for a “tune up”. When asked by the service advisor if they are trying to solve a running problem or is this strictly preventive maintenance the customer assured the advisor that there are not any problems. This repair is strictly maintenance.  After completing the engine performance maintenance and properly road testing the vehicle all systems appear normal. Unfortunately 2 days later a dissatisfied customer is  calling about the lousy tune up because his car is still stalling in the morning when cold. (meaning it was doing this before the repairs) Additional diagnosis revealed a defective computer sensor was the ultimate culprit. All ended well but this could have been solved the first time with just a little more information.

Tell your automotive professional as much information as possible. This will help avoid misunderstandings and assure that all your questions and concerns are resolved.

Trust your repair shop and allow them to do what they do best. That is, repair and maintain your car with value added service. The automotive professional is your best choice in repairing your vehicle correctly.
